MFS - Rookery Waters, Pidley, 19th July 2014

Image
I've been here before.. oh yeah, last year, same peg! A MFS match at Rookery Waters in Pidley that is turning into an annual event. This is the second year we have descended on the little village of Pidley. I got to the Mad Cat Pub for our breakfast around 7:30am to be greeted by a few of the lads, most who had traveled up the day before and camped in Neilio's back garden or sourced a local hotel.  I obviously missed a good night as there were a few bleary eyes and croaky voices... A quick breakfast in the pub and the short drive to the fishery.  Rookery Waters is going through an expansion with a new lake being dug and a tackle shop being built on-site.  Access to Magpie lake has been improved with a road available to drop off your gear. The Draw Orderly queue and hands in to the plastic bag with the milk carton tops for our pegs... Peg 23 came out for me... the same peg that I had drawn the previous year .  Funny enough, Ricky also drew the same peg as he fish

The Glebe, 11th July 2014 with Andy Kinder

After enjoying great days tuition with Bob Nudd and Andy May I fancied another day with an Angling star. Andy Kinder started to offer tuition days and having met Andy on a number of matches with the Match Fishing Scene lads I decided a day with him would be a good day out!  So a quick call to Andy and we organised a session at Roy Marlow's Glebe fishery in Leicester. Andy's angling achievements are vast: Andy has fished for the Barnsley blacks for 23 years, which included various winter leagues, semi finals and finals.  Fished the world club champs.  Fished 5 times at England junior level, won team gold with the first ever England under 19's world champs.  Coached Sheffield juniors for 5 years and in that time they won the junior nationals twice and had the individual winner.  Andy has been Maver sponsored for 20 years and sponsored by Marukyu since the very start of Marukyu Brand in the UK What did I want to achieve on the day?  Well I was after honing my

MFS - Glebe Pairs, 7th June 2014

The friday night at the Longshoot was a long night!  Even more people looking quite tired at breakfast the next day. Another big breakfast was required and it was off to the Glebe for the final day of the pairs. Heading back to the fishery and my car now full of groundbait would have another small disaster... I almost missed the turn into the Glebe and put the brakes on a little bit too hard.  Result....???  Yep, you guessed it, the groundbait bucket came flying towards me and now covered the front of the car... there was grounbait everywhere, in the back, the front, all over the centre console, in the air vents, on the dashboard, all over me, the seat, everywhere!!!! This wasn't the worst of the mess! Of course my groundbait incident was the source of much amusement to the lads!  It's Audi's new grounndbait interior, Krill special! There were many people late for the draw that day, again I'll mention no names.... you know who you are... The Draw Today

MFS - Glebe Pairs, 6th June 2014

Two days of fishing with 60 of the Match Fishing Scene lads, what a way to spend two days!  I arrived on the Thursday night at the infamous Longshoot, a quick pint with Sconey, Red Army, Neilo, Pete Bailey and the other lads before grabbing a taxi to a curry house near the Glebe to see "Mr Dwarf", "Mr Thin", Steve 50/50 ('cause I can never make up my mind) and Neil (please Katie, stop calling me for baby making duties). A great night was had by all, most notably myself and Pete Bailey, er, discussing, not arguing about which Range Rover (Sport or Full fat) or Audi gets the most fishing gear in!  With great food and plenty of wine the hanger was going to hurt the next day especially once we got back to the Longshoot we ended up back in the bar... The next morning arrived and there were a couple of people still in their beds, mentioning no names eh Pete ;-)  A Longshoot breakfast, copious amounts of toast and coffee and off to the fishery. It was great to
